A new way of learning.
Story-driven learning, established by Joseph Le Doux in partnership with Janece Shaffer at Georgia Tech, offers a new approach to higher education that centers the narrative mode and helps emerging adults intentionally craft their narrative identity.
By foregrounding personal stories in the curriculum, students are better able to show up as their whole selves and explore their future personal and professional lives. Story-driven learning centers both critical aspects of stories: story-telling and story-listening.
Through story-telling, individuals can better connect with themselves by reflecting on and refining their values, motivation, and lived experiences. Through story-listening, individuals can better connect with others through greater understanding and empathy.
Story-driven learning has been found to improve students’ agency, entrepreneurial mindset, empathy, and connectedness to others. Centering personal stories in the classroom offers a powerful approach to transform a wide range of student outcomes — and our workshops provide the resources, tools, and support necessary to humanize your classroom through story-driven learning.
